Sue Brown - WOWing South Australia
My introduction to WOW saddles was at Equitana in 2010 when I was on the hunt for dressage and jump saddles for our horse. We had been continually frustrated by our endeavours to find any that fitted well . He was clearly very uncomfortable as his behaviour started to take a turn for the worst . Having tried many different saddles we were at a loss as to which might be the right one.
The WOW saddle intrigued me , although initially I did consider it a little “gimmicky”- the saddle of many bits. Having left my contact details with WOW expert, Julia McLean, at Equitana in 2010, I was happy to receive an email letting me know she was heading to South Australia. I was delighted to host her visit and take the opportunity to find out as much as I could about these unique and intriguing saddles.
From the moment my daughter sat in it, she was’ WOWed”! Her horse was different – free in his shoulders and a canter like she hadn’t felt before and a sense that she ‘belonged’ in the seat. A unique combination of rider satisfaction, comfort, position and most importantly comfort and freedom for the horse. Having used the saddle for several months our horse has a topline and muscle definition he has never had before.
These saddles now had my attention. I have spent many years as an advocate for good horse nutrition , hoof care, and general well-being, so saddle fit was a logical adjunct to meet the needs of happy, well performed horses. I was also most impressed with the ease of adjustability of the rider’s position and balance in these saddles. No more wedges or thick pads under the saddle.
I am excited to be able to introduce these amazing saddles to South Australian riders of all disciplines. I have yet to find a horse that does not clearly move more freely under a WOW. Riders have been excited by the WOW factor…..”my horse is so sensitive I am struggling to find a saddle he is happy in. Riding in the WOW was the first time he has not constantly swished his tail and put his ears back”, says 4* Eventer Cooper Oborn, who has been truly ‘WOWed’.
He is just one of many SA riders who look forward to a new beginning with their horses.
